What One Can Do...

Who's heading up what in the

wonderful world of EGR

EGR is an intentionally small organization resourcing a rapidly-growing movement. That means most of the work is done by people like you who have felt God's call to be agents of global reconciliation. Below are email links and brief infobytes for EGR's staff (executive director and part-time administrative assistant) as well as board members and volunteers heading up various initiatives. Feel free to contact them to find out What You Can Do to get more involved. Click here for more detailed bio information on board and staff.

If there's something you'd like to start, a vision you'd like to get going for the church and the MDGs that you don't see  give us a shout and let us know and we'll get you up here, too!

EGR Staff

Executive Director -- The Rev. Mike Kinman -- MKinman@gmail.com

Mike KinmanMike has been EGR's executive director since 2006 and involved in the movement since 2003. Prior to that he was the Episcopal Campus Missioner at Washington University in St. Louis and co-founder of the Gathering the NeXt Generation Network of Generation X Episcopal Clergy. Got big-picture questions about EGR and the movement? Want to offer your gifts to this movement and get more involved? Interested in volunteering to be an EGR diocesan contact person? Got an idea for a new initiative? This is the guy you contact. He works at EGR's "international headquarters" -- which also happens to be his home in St. Louis - 6209 Pershing Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63130. Mike is available to speak/preach/lead worshops at diocesan conventions and other gatherings. Click here for his schedule.

Administrative Assistant -- Marguy McVey -- e4gradm@gmail.com

Marguy came on board as EGR's part-time (two days a week) administrative assistant in June 2007. The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in University City, Missouri, graciously donates office space for Marguy and EGR.

Treasurer - Gary Cartwright -- garyec@verizon.net

Want to make a gift to EGR to further the work of this movement? Well, you can click here and give online, you can click here and find out where to send your check. Want to help raise funds to keep EGR afloat. Drop Gary a line.  Gary is the Archdeacon for the Diocese of Southwest Florida and has been EGR's treasurer since 2006. Find out more about him on our board page.

Initiative/Project Conveners

Webmaster/Internet Coordinator -- Bill Monk -- bmonk@growfaith.org

Bill MonkBill is EGR's webmaster and has donated more hours and expertise than we can count to make EGR's web presence what it is. His day job is with Episcopal Media Center, which hosts www.e4gr.org as well as many diocesan and other church-related websites, including the Diocese of Atlanta, where Bill lives. Bill also coordinated the wonderful technology available at the EGR booth at General Convention ... including maintaining all those computers that gave folks free internet access! Got questions or ideas about the website or about what EGR is/could be doing online? Got an event you want posted on the calendar or a sermon to put on the sermons page? Anything about EGR and the internet ...  Give Bill a shout.

Children, Youth and the MDGs -- Tracey Herzer -- TraceyHerzer@aol.com

Tracey HerzerTracey is the president of the National Association for Episcopal Christian Education Directors and executive director of LeaderResources, a senior trainer for Journey to Adulthood (J2A), Godly Play trainer and one of the best education/spiritual formation minds & hearts in the Church. And despite all that on her plate, in 2007, she stepped up and volunteered to be EGR's point person for creating and gathering curricula for children and youth to engage the MDGs. Interested in helping her out? Got ideas for youth/children and the MDGs to share? Looking for ideas? Tracey's the one for you!

Millennials and the MDGs -- Elizabeth Henry -- elihenry@gmail.com

Elizabeth HenryNobody needs to "get young people involved in the MDGs and global relationships" ... they're already there. EGR believes the church's role is not to tell this generation what to do, but to help them discern where God is calling them, embrace and value their creative energy, help equip them with the resources to make the vision God gives them happen ... and then enjoy the ride we all go on together! Elizabeth, a senior at Davidson College, is pulling together a leadership team of high school students , college students and young adults across the church that will figure out where the energy is and get moving with it. Give Elizabeth a shout to find out more or to get invovled!

MDG Mapping Project -- Kevin Jones -- Jones@goodcap.net

Kevin JonesImagine an online, keyword searchable map through which you could access every MDG-related ministry in the Church -- with links so you could connect and collaborate with them -- and see a total picture of how much ministry is happening and how it binds us all together as a global community. Imagine you can enter everything about your MDG ministry needed to put you on that map in less than 10 minutes. You won't need to imagine for long! A pilot project of EGR and the Diocese of California is creating an interactive MDG map for that diocese, and once all the bugs are worked out, EGR will be the platform for launching it nationally. Read more about it here. Want to get involved? EGR board member Kevin Jones and his Silicon Valley crew is spearheading it all.

What's Next? The MDGs as Spiritual Tranformation for Congregations -- The Rev. Mark Anschutz -- markanschutz@yahoo.com

Mark AnschutzWe call it MDG 2.0 for short. Your priest has preached on the MDGs. You've had the adult forum. You've got the 0.7% line item in your budget. What next? We're getting some of the best parish ministry minds & hearts in the Church together to develop answers (note the plural) to that question. Mark is formerly the rector of St. Michael & All Angels in Dallas, St. James in New York City, and Christ Church in Old Town, Alexandria ... and now his passion is just this question: How can we make the MDGs truly spiritually transformational for congregations. Got some ideas? Want to help out? Let Mark know!

Counting Prayers -- An Interfaith Movement of Prayer for the MDGs -- Jon Denn -- TrinityCenter@optonline.net

jon dennJon's brainchild is a creative initiative that will unite people of faith around the world in a simple prayer for God to move us to the action it will take to make the MDGs reality. Find out more about it -- and sign up -- at www.countingprayers.org. Got questions or want to get involved in the "Billion Prayer March" ... a nationwide network of local prayer events surrounding the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in summer 2008 ... give Jon a shout.
