MDG jobs and volunteer opportunities...

Are you feeling called to make this work your life ... or at least a part of your life. Here are some opportunities to work for the MDGs in the world.

Job and Volunteer Search Websites

idealist.orgIdealist.org - A project of Action Without Borders, Idealist is an interactive site where people and organizations can exchange resources and ideas, locate opportunities and supporters, and take steps toward building a world where all people can lead free and dignified lives. With Idealist, you can find people, organizations, groups, jobs, volunteer opportunities, events and more. You can also sign up to receive daily alerts with new opportunities matching your interests and create a personal profile to network with other Idealists.

nonprofit oysterNonprofitOyster.com - An online career center serving the nonprofit sector. Use the keyword search to find MDG-related jobs (e.g. "AIDS" and "Africa"). You can also post an anonymous Career Profile on their site, so you can put your name out there for nonprofit jobs without your name being out there on the internet as a job seeker (where your current employer can see it!).

Nonprofit Career Network -- Another nonprofit job search site. This one actually has a drop-down menu where "international" is a search parameter.  The main site page is here. You can also submit a resume (though, unlike nonprofit oyster, it doesn't look like it is anonymous).

Craigslist - It's not just for selling the stuff in your basement. Craigslist carries postings for nonprofit job listings all over the world. Just go to the main Craigslist site, choose a city or country. Then look under Jobs for the category "nonprofit sector."

Careerbuilder.com and Monster.com -- each of these mainstream job search engines has entries for nonprofits. On each site you can choose "nonprofit" as a category and use MDG-related keywords (try "global" for starters") as the other search parameter.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy - The "Newspaper of the Nonprofit World" has an online listing of nonprofit jobs here. For specifically international jobs, click here.

Opportunity Knocks -- A national online job site focused exclusively on the nonprofit community. Mostly domestic jobs, but you'll find some MDG-related jobs here.

Network for Good -- check out their nonprofit jobs page for a list of links to job listings in the nonprofit world. Again, the emphasis is on domestic jobs, but if you hunt around, you can find jobs with global poverty connections.
