Blog the MDGs on Sept. 25 -- World MDG Blogging Day
On Sept. 25, world leaders will gather in New York to chart progress on the Millennium Development Goals -- 8 goals agreed to by the world's nations in 2000 that represent the largest concerted effort ever to end extreme poverty
For more on the MDGs, go to http://www.e4gr.org/mdgs/fast_facts.html
We're far behind on meeting these goals by the target date of 2015 ... and most of the rich nations of the world (the U.S. included) are not keeping the promises we made in aid, trade and debt relief.
On Sept. 25, 2008, we're asking you to join with bloggers around the world to post about making poverty history. It can be information about the MDGs. It can be a story of extreme poverty from your own life or travels. It can be a poem, a podcast, a video clip, a jpg of a piece of art, a prayer, an open letter to your leaders ... whatever your way of raising your voice to let people know about the 1.2 billion people who live on less than $1 a day.
It's easy to join:

Send an email like this to your blogging friends
"Dear _______,
I'm writing to invite you to join with bloggers all around the world on Thursday, September 25, 2008 to use the power of our voices to help make extreme poverty history ... to join me in observing World MDG Blogging Day.
On Sept. 25 there is a special high-level meeting at the UN to discuss progress made on the Millennium Development Goals -- 8 goals that the nations of the world promised to achieve by 2015. Right now we are not close to keeping that promise.
By blogging on the MDGs and our nation's moral imperative to meet its promises to achieve them, we will raise awareness about the more than 1 billion people who live on less than $1 a day and about our ability to bring them out of that extreme poverty. We will let people know that we can make poverty history ... if we have the will.
What should you blog? Anything you want. You can find information to share at many website, including Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation (which is sponsoring the blogging day), the ONE Campaign, DATA, the Micah Challenge and the Millennium Campaign.
More powerfully, you could just blog from your heart. Tell a story. Relate a dream. Anything that will capture minds, move hearts and inspire spirits.
To join just go to www.sept25.org and follow the directions. It's that easy.
I hope you'll join us on Sept. 25 to help Make Poverty History."
We have this set up as a blogring, so on Sept. 25 you can surf through as many as you want and read inspiring stories from around the world.
